Living in pain is difficult. Unfortunately, 1 in 10 Canadians are reported to live in pain every day. Migraines, back pain, muscle soreness and arthritis…the list is endless and each limit us from living life to our best potential. I personally suffer from chronic back pain that has been severe enough to keep me in bed for a few days at a time.
I believe there is a role for traditional medicine to alleviate my pain however, I always first investigate natural nutrition and lifestyle options first. Pain is one of our body’s protective mechanisms that indicate something is wrong. Inflammation, injury, over use and fatigue are just a few issues that may be causing pain. And to simply mask my pain with medication may cause me persistent pain in the long run.
Many years ago, my father was diagnosed with early onset arthritis which caused him a significant amount of pain. He was given a list of medications he needed to take in order to manage the pain. Most medications would suppress his immunity and have other negative side effects. He chose to visit a naturopath and with the help of an elimination diet, was given a strict nutrition plan to follow to manage inflammation and ultimately his pain. 20 years later he still follows this restrictive lifestyle and has benefited from improved health as a result. This personal story is a source of my inspiration to create well&tight and help people uncover a lifestyle that can help them live to their best potential self without medical intervention when possible.
